WHAT ARE YOUR TIRE PRIORITIES?

Choosing a good set of tires is about more than brand name and price. It’s also about knowing your driving habits and preferences and how certain types of tires perform in various road and weather conditions. Every set of tires comes with its own strengths and weaknesses, so knowing your priorities is the key to choosing a set you’ll be happy with. Below are a few ways to approach your choice.

FAQs

When do I need a new tire?

Replacing only one of your tires is generally not recommended, but sometimes it can’t be avoided. Issues like wheel alignment, over- or under-inflation, or a worn-out suspension can cause uneven wear. That could mean you’ll need to replace one or two tires but not the whole set. Check your vehicle's owner’s manual to learn if your tires are recommended to be replaced in sets, pairs or individually.  Inspect your tires often for signs of uneven wear

The most reliable way to repair a tire is the combined patch-plug method. A tire can be patched twice if the holes are at least 16 inches away from each other, the puncture itself is repairable and if it falls in a repairable area of the tread. If the tire is damaged in multiple places too close or needs to be repaired a third time, it’s time to replace the tire.

How do I choose the right tires for my vehicle?

Choosing the right tires for your vehicle starts with the type of vehicle you drive. Next, you’ll want to narrow it down to the type of tire: all-season, winter, performance, summer, all-terrain, touring, mud-terrain, spare tires. Once you’ve narrowed that down, you’ll need to know what size your vehicle needs. You can find that number in the driver side door jamb or manufacturer recommendations in your owner’s manual.

How many miles should tires last?

A set of tires should last anywhere between 50,000 and 60,000 miles on average. The type of tires as well as factors like driving habits, weather conditions, and maintenance routine will all have an impact on tire longevity.

How much do new tires cost?

The cost of new tires can vary anywhere from $100 to $1000 per tire depending on the tire. It can be easier to keep track if you replace all your tires at the same time as a unit.

Performance and mud tires are generally the most expensive. Winter tires can also be more expensive because they are engineered especially for extreme cold weather. If you’re looking for a ballpark, browse our selection of tires.
